Namibia
My first African adventure and always thinking of the next return trip. All these places are well-known and visited now, and for good reason. The dead camelthorn trees in Deadvlei are a stunning contrast to the red dunes of the Namib Desert and the stark blue sky. Kolmanskop was a thriving diamond mining community in the early 1900s, but abandoned since the 1950s. Most of the buildings are left to the relentless wind and sand. Nostalgia whispers as you move from room to room, thinking of the lives lived here.
