I finally managed a trip to the border region of high desert in Chile, Bolivia and Argentina.  Earlier attempts had been scuttled by Covid-19.)  As with most of such tours we started in San Pedro de Atacama, then north into Bolivia and back before heading to Argentina, and the images are presented in this order.  There are two sets of images, normal ground-based stills followed by drone images (this was my first serious attempt at drone photography; moderately pleased but more practice is definitely needed).
We only had time for a few shoots around San Pedro, an area that has much more to offer and worth an extended session on a future trip.  The reason to venture into Bolivia is the Uyuni salt flat, with a couple of nice flamingo-filled lagoons along the way.  A good portion of this area is at 4500m elevation but we all managed without incident.  The Salar Uyuni is huge and was partly flooded (very shallow water) giving us sections with lovely reflections as well as dry areas with the characteristic polygonal patterns.  Surrounding storms prevented all but one evening of nice light but did provide some lightning.  We then toured the Puna region of Argentina which has a huge variety of features from the 14-colour mountain to Cono de Arita to the white sand dunes (very sharp grains that really sting when the wind is up, which it was for us, keeping most drones safely on the ground).
